IN THE CITY

…IN THE CITY…

Solo exhibition of Paz Aymerich, curated by Conchi Alvarez.

The freshness, ease and, above all, the sentimental content of each work stand out. This exhibition shows her soul boldly and tearfully, almost blatantly. It is a Paz, more sure of its good work, more mature, but also more aware of the responsibility it acquires with each new work.

“… In the city” we can feel his feelings and think about his thoughts, and this time, thanks to his generosity, we can also read them, as Paz has written, of some works, quick sketches with his hunch and reflections. In total an Exhibition of 55 works of various formats, made on board, mixed media, acrylic, or to a lesser extent, oil. The execution, of nervous, fast, loose brushwork; drawing, subject to color, a color that we would almost call urban, in all its range of warm and cold, as well as light, generously squandered … personalized for each “glance”.

The composition, the organization of the space, the arrangement of elements are sometimes articulated on the basis of distant perspectives that bewitch and upset the soul, as in “Sleeping City III”, “Night Silence” or Distances I and II; others, through disturbing undercuts, such as “Madrid peace”, “Madrid chaos” or “From Madrid to heaven” I and II. Or simply with much closer perspectives, typical of the visitor’s curiosity, as in the series of Casares or the “White houses of the island of Hydra” I and II.

The predominant theme and protagonist is the urban landscape: “… in the city”, from the city, but it also captures snapshots of the human presence in the rural world: the light towers. Complicity invades us in many of his works, so close, so urban, and yet so human, because they contain a positive message, a friendly and hopeful discourse of a living and caring city, with a thousand stories to discover, with multifaceted facets to explore … is the new polis, claimed and reinvented by Paz.
