REMNANTS OF AL-ANDALUS
This is a solo exhibition of Conchi Alvarez, curated by herself.
Stoa presents the first solo exhibition of this painter, showing a total of thirteen large-scale works. Subject (landscape), composition (mainly “trampantojos”) and art (acrylic on panel) is very different from her normal work, they all capture the lived moments of Malaga´s Alcazaba, Muslim fortress reinterpreted in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Intensive colours of an optimistic palette, embodied with nimbled touches. The light, almost blinding, reflects a bright southern taifa world. The broad prospects simulate both, spaces seen from the “rooms” of this palace-fortress, and the view from the entrance to the whole palace, and the gloom of the bend in the doors, passing all the musicality and freshness that water provides, the surrounding landscape and, of course, the magical urbanism random reminiscences, always so inspiring.
