Solo exhibition of Paz Aymerich artist, curated by Conchi Alvarez. From 3th of February until 19th of Apryl
Ten years have passed since Paz´s last solo exhibition at STOA. Years of retreat and reflection in which the artist has continued to experiment with an urban landscape that already moved us in 2007, in the exhibition “… In the city …”. Years in which she has worked with peace and serenity, acquiring a remarkable pictorial maturity. Years in which she has invested in this intimate relationship with the habitat in an environment, the painting, her beloved way of expression. This particular urban experience passes to boards and canvases with a spasmodic drive, a reflection of the author’s passion and intensity, but also as a result of a deep spiritual stillness that entails that apprehension of the urban reality that characterizes her painting.
They are all compositions of the figurative field with a subjective, very personal vision, in which her experiences pass to the support with the freshness and fluency provided by the spatula and the brush. Distant approaches are predominant, with perspective, as well as visions and views from roofs. They are the distant perspectives in which the skyline fuses impossible embraces between heaven and earth where Paz achieves sublime moments that invite you to dream and reconcile with the city. She is able to get tangible atmospheres in which you can predict the dialogues, murmurs, laughs, tears… horizons with silhouettes of a forceful plasticity that become the own identity of each city.
Works abound on her beloved Madrid, the biggest works of art, more striking, pure delirium for the habitat more than loved, constituting a tribute of this Madrilenian to her hometown. A Madrid without convulsion, calm, dreamt, longed for, clearly it is… her Madrid. New York, the metropolis par excellence, the City, is present in several works. In them, through the chromaticism, there is an inhibition and uneasiness that Madrid and other cities do not provoke in Paz. And other cities, in small format, amusements of imagined cities, dreamed, idealized, almost touching the still life.
