EL CANTE BECOME COLOUR I

“EL CANTE BECOME COLOUR “

Performance of Ana Fargas with the guitar of P. J. Jimeno and paintings of Conchi Alvarez

Curated by Conchi Alvarez

This project appears as a fascination of the artist C. Alvarez for the world of flamenco. For some time, part of her paintings were focused on a specific aspect: the andalusian woman, the Flamenco woman, the goddess Debla. From the moment she meet the artist from Estepona, Ana Fargas, thanks to a common friend, Manuel Rodriguez, a deep and highly rich communication was established between the two creators, the Flamenco singer and the painter. Ana worked from the paintings, apprehending them, living them in order to compose the deep lyrics, highly emotional in the performances; then, in the painter’s studio, she posed for her while she sang, performing, personifying each lyric. The result, “The song makes colour” and from that four works of arts emerged, done on acrylic on panel, where Ana’s art has directly promoted the other art, the paint, based on intense colours and vivid light, establishing a feminine dialogue which is the first performance of STOA, “live art” where the star is La Fargas, her extraordinary singing, wonderfully accompanied by her husband’s guitar, Paco Javier Jimeno, and a background of 16 works of art by C. Alvarez regarding the andalusian woman and the flamenco woman along with the four paintings done specially for and as the representation of Ana.
