Light and color invade the works of this Mexican artist, belonging to the abstract world, but with remarkable recurrence to the use of figurative elements. Paintings of great size, light tiles invaded by a “horror vacui” that reminds you, inevitably, of the Mayan carvings and wall paintings. Fabrics covered with circles, numbers, triangles and endless elements, seemingly positioned at random, but with a noticeable anthropomorphic sense, backed up by the titles: “Clementina”, “Domitila” and “Bartola”, female names that show her love for Mexico´s past and tradition, constituting a protest against the import of gringos´ names and customs. This restless painter who goes from brushes and palettes to the use of the fingers with Eleusinian frenzy, gets a limpid result, full of freshness and a playful sense of life. She is an offeror Mexican lady who expects and demands a free gaze by the viewer towards her work. Three works of art in acrylic on canvas in four canvases, as “Clementina” is a diptych, constituting the three a series, “The Traveling”, created and born specifically for this exhibition in Spain.
Ida is one of the paradigms in artists of the XXI century: born in Bulgaria, where she began her training, which she later completed in Germany and Great Britain, she currently has studios in Haskovo (Bulgaria), London, Oslo and New York. This globalization is reflected in her work, written in international language and with universal contents and messages.
This exhibition presents a series of drawings-collages on Seduction. They constitute a set of snapshots that flows, with exquisite elegance and delicate subtlety, the everlasting theme of “seductio”. In each of the four sequences of small format, she gets a beautiful and profound radiography of something mundane, as attractive and complex. In “A shadow” and “Animal Desire”, she focuses on the seductive process, without a doubt complex and convulsed, in an allegorical key, imagining a seductive, sexy and brutal feline, pure generator of power and voltage potential. In “Europe” the artist renews the myth of the Rape of Europe to show the zenith of seduction. A Zeus bullfighting, which lost its white color for a red passion, ends his adultery triumphantly carrying the trophy of the beautiful Phoenician. “The bold Mary” shows another side of the seduction, the ambivalent attraction of the hermaphrodite.
A Spanish artist, representative of the Hispanic Heritage in the words of Paolo Levi and proud that her work is identified with feelings for Spain, that could be a definition of this painter, born Castilian and Andalusian by adoption. On this occasion, she presents works from her series “Urban Dreams”, all of Malaga, a city that for the painter is full of charm, seduction and vitality. Through endless walks in the historic center, the painter goes through a kind of urban catharsis in which the city is blurred, loses its natural color and acquires a more intense, more genuine … the color of the heart. Works that flash a malacitana, radiant and almost blinding light, loved by the artist who seems to touch with her magic wand that invisible switch, responsible for this staged luminaire.
Streets and corners without people, without the inherent noise made by them, but full of human action, as in these saturated colors are their experiences, and in the boundless light, the reflection of their essences.
