ABOUT THE CORPOREAL AND EVANESCENT
Curated by Conchi Alvarez
This exhibition tries to reflect a radical dichotomy of sculpture and modelling of the human body, from the work of two artists of the new Andalusian figures : Joaquin Molina´s sculptures and paintings and drawings of C. Álvarez. Two different contributions to the fascinating evolution of events that lead men and women and that are as old as man himself. From highly charged religious works such as the prehistoric Venus with full sexual attributes whose creation was linked to magic and propitiatory rites of fertility, or the archaic Greek kuroi, debtors of the Egyptian statuary, erected to remember and boast the hero of the Games, held sanctuaries, reaching inmortal iconographic models of classical Greek art, gestated with a sense of “art for art” both in sculptures of male athletes or Gods, as in the delicate Venus.
JOAQUÍN MOLINA
Joaquin Molina, offers in his sculptures the most possible sensitive approach to a world which may seem unkind, that of the bodybuilders. His bronzes shape lush bodies, muscled until exhaustion.
CONCHI ALVAREZ
Conchi Alvarez raises the world of the women with an intimate and kind view. Queens of the canvas, display all the feminine complexity, full of lush sensuality, without losing delicacy. Always aware of their beauty, they become icons of femininity.
